"I will review a field-theoretic study of neutrino emission from dense quark matter in strong magnetic fields, under conditions relevant to magnetar interiors. Focusing on unpaired quark phase, we explore both direct Urca and synchrotron emission rates. For the direct Urca process, we develop an approximation that incorporates Landau-level quantization for electrons while neglecting it for quarks.
This approach is well-suited for the high-density regime where quark chemical potentials far exceed those of electrons. This treatment reveals nontrivial dependence on the field strength and anisotropy in the emission rate, with potential implications for pulsar kicks and magnetar cooling. We also analyze in detail synchrotron emission, deriving its parametric dependence on magnetic field strength, quark chemical potential, and temperature. While synchrotron emission is suppressed by several orders of magnitude relative to the direct Urca process, it provides valuable insight into the magnetic-field-modified dynamics of quark matter.
Our findings highlight the nuanced role of magnetic fields in shaping neutrino signals from the quark cores of magnetars".
