- Search for New Physics with Neutrino Masses and Symmetries
Palestrante: Caio Licciardi - University of Windsor
Abstract: Over the past decades, neutrinos have quietly transformed our understanding of the universe. These particles slip through matter almost undisturbed, but their subtle interactions have inspired crucial ideas that form our current Standard Model (SM) of particle physics. From the observation of neutrino oscillations to the possibility that they may be their own antiparticles, neutrinos continue to challenge the established SM. In this seminar, I will present my work in two international collaborations: nEXO, which uses liquid xenon to search for neutrinoless double beta decay and probe the nature of neutrino masses, and Hyper-Kamiokande, a water Cherenkov detector designed to study neutrino oscillations and search for CP violation in the lepton sector. Together, these efforts push the boundaries of technology and knowledge, aiming to uncover some of the deepest secrets of the cosmos.
