Título: "Excitons and exciton-polaritons in acoustic lattices"

Resumo: Microcavity exciton polaritons are bosonic quasiparticles resulting from the strong coupling between quantum well excitons and photons in a semiconductor microcavities. Due to the long coherence lengths, three dimensionally confined polariton condensates can be formed in intra-cavity traps created during the epitaxial growth of the microcavity. We show that the energy spectrum as well as the symmetry of lattices of confined condensates can be efficiency controlled using the strain field of a surface acoustic wave. These acoustically modulated condensate lattices are, to a great extent, solid-state analogs of optical lattices of cold atoms: they form, therefore, a prototype system for the investigation of many body interactions in the solid state.
