Abstract: This presentation will begin with a brief historical review of the development of organic thin film transistor (OTFT) technology. Key device parameters and their evaluation will be discussed, especially concentrating on the extraction of charge carrier mobility from transfer characteristics. The role of computer simulation in extracting model parameters for subsequent use in circuit design and simulation will then be outlined and key TFT design features highlighted. Finally, the approaches being used for the manufacture of organic electronic circuits will be described including both vacuum- and solution-based processing.
