Título: Black Holes in Astrophysics

Resumo:

Celebrating the recent 100th anniversary of Einstein's general theory of relativity, I will talk about black holes and their fundamental role in astrophysics. I will explain how black holes produce -- paradoxically -- the brightest and most powerful objects in the universe and how they control the fates of galaxies.
